“DA SIND WIR* - City Bathing” is an invitation to imagine new images – for the inclusive queer feminist city we would like to inhabit.
Unfolding our bodies with physical tools for place making, we practised what we call “City Bathing” around Altona Station.
City Bathing consists of both flooding the city with our bodies and bathing in the city - taking up space and taking the space in: “Raum einnehmen” in both senses.
What happens if we take the city into ourselves, breathe it, become porous to its influence – being still together, asking: How is this now? And how could it be?
With large inflatable cushions attached to our bodies we take up space, we claim spaces physically and use our imaginations to reclaim those spaces for the future. What would the queer-feminist Altona of our dreams feel and look like? What are our needs within the city?

DA SIND WIR* is an ongoing participatory research project by the artists and spacial strategists Jana Beckmann, Constanza Carvajal, Sarah Drain and Janna
Nikoleit, tackling the experiences and needs of FLINTA* in public space.
